about

I have been an admirer of Paul Giallorenzo's playing for some time, first though his records, and eventually after hearing him in performance. The first time I heard Paul improvise, I was pleasantly surprised by some of the common elements that he and I both use. I felt like we were on common ground, and the idea of playing together on two pianos seemed inevitable. After almost two years of casually discussing the possibility, we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play together at Constellation on February 4th, 2017. The performance revealed that were very much in tune with each-other's instincts, often so much so that we quite naturally overlapped or finished each other's phrases. It was a real high to hear that much sound emanating from both pianos, and to be in a constant state of interaction. I am pleased to present this recording as a document of that performance, and as pianistic ear-candy for all who care to listen.
